About Our Team

Raastawala is very much a family concern. The dream of starting a foodie business serving up Bengali cuisine was born out of Neelan and Rinku’s Kolkatan street food-themed wedding feast. With the help of Rinku’s dad, Ron — who’d picked up plenty of recipe secrets over the years as owner of Kolkata’s legendary Amber restaurant — the concept soon took shape, and the first Raastawala stall appeared one cold autumn Saturday at a farmers market in Kent.

At Canteen, it’s Raastawala’s hot and tasty Kati rolls that are drawing the crowds: big fluffy naans, wrapped around marinated meats and chickpea options, fresh crunchy salad and family recipe sauces, including homemade Great Taste Award-winning chutney. Looking for something sweet to follow? Try the pop-in-the-mouth crunchy puffs, filled with a spicy potato mixture and drowned in an incredible sweet, sour and tangy water.
